Death Trap | AstraDaemon

Forbidden Island. For nearly fifty years it has been deserted, left to crumble into the shark-infested waters. Until a greedy businessman decides to reopen the mining operation abandoned all those years ago.

What evil lurks in the dilapidated buildings, in the tunnels and passages of the cement structure?

ABANDONED by Armand Rosamilia takes place in Japan, with two scheming business men playing a brutal game of financial chess over the future of an island. Both ignoring the history of the isolated death trap, people arrive only to be hunted and killed by something from the abandoned mine.

This creature-feature is a stand-alone novella, but I wouldn't say no to a sequel. I'd love to know more about the mine's inhabitants.

If you'd prefer a sci-fi story, I also recommend FROZEN IN ICE by Rosamilia.

THIS STORY Is Abandoned

Lisa has nowhere to go.
She’s been kicked out of her apartment in Queens by her alcoholic boyfriend and has no other friends in the city. A co-worker tells her about a house on Staten Island where she can live in rent-free, but Lisa comes to realize the price that comes with living in an abandoned house.

Abandoned by Carol McMahon is a ghost story without a ghost. The lengthy set-up, with the building's condition being described over and over, is completely unnecessary. The descriptions of the nighttime activity is terrifying, especially since Lisa lives by herself. The ending is confusing and doesn't offer any explanation of what was happening.

I would have enjoyed some connection to Grace...maybe she knew there is something evil in the building and she deliberately invites people to stay at the apartment to feed whatever is in the building. Alas, not the case.

Making A Comeback

It would seem that I've abandoned my review blog, but I didn't...I just had to put the entire review process on hold for a few months.

This year, I've had one family emergency after another: cousin needing liver transplant, cousin with kidney failure, aunt in coma, just to name the events from the past month alone...I think you understand now.

I feel terrible because I have authors that have been waiting several months for me to review their work, but, in addition to family emergencies, I've had my own issues to deal with as well. A long break was needed.

Happy to say, September will be different. I have an interview coming up, the sequel to a great zombie series and plenty of mystery-thrillers to set the mood before Halloween.

Thank you for standing by...
