THE ERL KING'S PROMISE by Stories From The Attic is such a fantastic mix of folklore and horror, I think this story deserves a longer format. Not only that, but this would make a great film.

I highly recommend this one.

THE WRONG SIDE OF ALBERT by Stories From The Attic is a story within a story. An inmate befriends the prison librarian and soon realizes his new friendship offers protection. However, a new cellmate reveals the terrifying reason everyone fears Albert.

The suspense is intense, and Albert's true nature is frightening. Although the ending is abit abrupt, I highly recommend this one.

PAYING THE PIPER by Stories From The Attic is a terrifying tale about a modern-day Pied Piper blackmailing various towns in Europe and America. Throughout most of the story, the villain appears to simply be a madman using a bioweapon, until the chilling detail about the two remaining children.

Definitely a must read!

INSTA-SCARE by Stories From The Attic is one of the first shorts released by the author and it shows. The writing style is sloppy, and the "horror" is cheesy at best.

Instead of reading this, I recommend THE BEES by SFTA.

THE EDGE OF HOLLY FIELD by Stories From The Attic is an absolute mess. The writing style is jumbled, the ending is chaotic and abrupt, and the author even left editing notes at the end.

This is nowhere near the quality of storytelling Ive come to expect from SFTA. This one should be taken down.

If you want to read a great horror short from this author, read CLOWN EATER instead.

SHUT IN by Stories From The Attic is horrific because of the realism. I live in the States, and I've experienced several natural disasters. However, I believe we have a better chance of survival here than many people do in other countries. Reading the narrator's frightening flashback has me counting my blessings.

Even though I knew the narrator and his mother obviously didn't die, my mind imagined a horrifying outcome just the same. Much to my surprise, the author's ending is not what I expected.

The writing style is excellent and one of the main reasons I keep reading Stories From The Attic. This is one I'm recommending to all readers.

MR. STRINGS by Stories From The Attic is a horrifying twist on the doll sub-genre. A guy is looking for something special to feature in his strange exhibition...something with a backstory. The shopowner has the perfect item, but..."he's bad."

CLOWN EATER by Stories From The Attic is so freaking awesome, I recommend this to all horror fans, even if you have a fear of clowns. I promise this won't trigger your phobia, although it might give you a new one.

The narrator provides a fantastic build-up of suspense with minimal effort, with the scrapbook and portrait being perfectly terrifying details.

This is definitely my new favorite from SFTA.

MONSTERS by Stories From The Attic has a long setup, but it's absolutely necessary in this case. The flashbacks seem harmless enough, until Grandma finally reveals a secret she's been keeping for decades. The ending tosses an extra twist into the mix of folklore and horror.

I highly recommend this one.

THE HAUNTING by Stories From The Attic is laughable. I don't want to reveal spoilers, but I'm thinking the author doesn't know much about the price of cars. I also think the local police must be a joke. Don't even get me started on the main characters. I know fiction usually requires a suspension of disbelief, but this story is terrible compared to others by SFTA.

Do yourselves a favor and skip this one...go read ROOM 206 instead.

GRAVEYARD RISING by Stories From The Attic is an interesting twist on the revenge trope, but left me disliking Sarah as much as Byron. If she carried that much despair over a guy she only dated a month, I feel sorry for anyone else who dates her. (Yes, I know it's fiction, but the author mixes real life issues with horror in this short, so I'm salty over this one.)

This story didn't have as much suspense as previous SFTA shorts, but I still enjoyed hating on the characters.

THE WITCH TAPE by Stories From The Attic is a frightening account of three teens stupid enough to enter the local woods on Halloween night, even though they know the place is cursed.

I knew they were going to see something horrific, but what they find is much worse than I imagined. I felt as though I were running alongside them, not knowing if anyone would survive.

THE BEES by Stories From The Attic is an outstanding horror short, which deserves to be made into a movie. With classic elements reminiscent of the original Fly movie, the author has created a terrifying and heart-breaking turn of events for a mother with a homemade honey business.

Regardless, the neighbor's secret is far worse than Clark ever imagined. Highly recommended.
